This Zippo lighter is inspired by the beloved poem “Footprint in the Sand”, a piece that has comforted countless people around the world.
The poem tells of a man walking along the beach with God. Looking back at his life, he always saw two sets of footprints—his and God’s. Yet, during the most difficult and sorrowful times, there was only one set of footprints. The man asked God, “Why did you leave me when I needed you most?” God replied: “During your time of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
This touching line is beautifully printed on the front of the lighter.
The design uses a classic Brushed Chrome Zippo as its base. The surface is divided diagonally, with the upper right half depicting waves splashing onto the shore, created with a unique “splash texture” technique that allows you to feel raised dots when touched. The lower left half shows sandy ground with a single footprint, symbolizing the moment of being carried. The words of the poem appear as though written directly in the sand.
