Stanley Mouse is a highly regarded American artist, best known for his bold, psychedelic posters and album covers that became symbolic of the 1960s counterculture era.
He started his artistic career by using airbrush techniques to design custom artwork for hot rods and motorcycles. His rise to prominence came in the mid-1960s after relocating to San Francisco, where he emerged as a key figure in the psychedelic art movement.
Mouse’s signature style combines elements of psychedelic visuals, fantasy themes, and American pop imagery. His later work frequently explores motifs such as timelessness, surrealism, and the cycle of life and death.
One of his most famous creations is the “Skeleton and Roses” design for the Grateful Dead in 1966, a piece that remains closely associated with the band. Beyond the Grateful Dead, Mouse collaborated with several other influential rock groups of the time.
